Saw the holiday promotion today and looked up the ping buddy adsb site. Looks like a nicely put together package, but I noticed that iFly was not listed as being one of the compatible applications. Seems like iFly's getting shortchanged there...seeing as how you're promoting the device on your site.

There are some details to be finalized, so we are not shortchanged yet. We just posted their products on our site and are expecting our inventory any day. Adding iFly GPS to their site is pending and I'm confident it will be done shortly.

In their defense, we have not yet added Ping to the connected devices list in our software. I've advised them of our auto-detect for 9.7, so we may be able to accelerate that. I pulled this together very quickly with uAvionix and being a holiday week, I think is fair to allow them time to make that change in their site.

Thanks for your feedback. They are a great partner to us and we look forward to further offerings with Ping products.

I just received my pingBuddy and tested it with iFly GPS in my den. It seems to work OK but the range is not near that of my SkyGuard or Stratux. That may not be an issue in flight. I could not get it to work when iFly GPS did the automatic connection, but when I chose Stratux/FightBoxWiFi, it worked fine.

OP, is the range issue you mentioned related to the range of the wi-fi signal or the apparent range of the Ping's ability to receive ADSB signals?

Not the WiFi range. I was talking about the ADS-B 1090 traffic being received. I had the pingBuddy laying on the floor in the den. After I put it away, I read the directions and see the antenna (as small as it is) should be vertical. I'll try it again and report back. It's not really a fair test until it gets in the airplane and in the air.
