my ifly takes a long time to find satellites, so i tried the suggestion to turn it on before preflight, then it will be ready.  well, it finds the satellites better when not moving, however it appears to shut off after the system power comes on on startup.  so then we start all over again.  my lowrance 1000, which i still have on board will have 12 satellites by the time i've taxied to the end of the hangar.  both have external anteannas sitting on the glareshield.

this looks like something that needs to be fixed.

Kevin,

Try doing a reset on the GPS.  To do this you will click on the GPS Status Bar, then click on Reset GPS, and allow it a few minutes to reset itself.  This will typically help the GPS, as "Turning it off and back on again" is the fix all for a lot of technology issues.  If this still does not work, then we can troubleshoot more from there.
