FLAPJACK RUN to SMOKETOWN...

-Another weekend fly-out to one of the places still open...T Burks of Smoketown, PA in the middle of AMISH Country!

-Weather was iffy, but ok for low VFR in VMC.

-Traffic picked up later...some folks venturing out during the pandemic...but not nearly as many as before.

-Great chow -- nice breakfast menu for anyone wanting to go there! It is a beautiful little country-style airport!

-Good times - all welcome to fly with us!

Thanks, Mike. Smoketown looks like a fine field to visit. Only 171 nm for me.

Don, that sounds great  -- we would love to see your seaplane.

There IS a seaplane base and fly-in every first Saturday of the month at Sunbury Aerodrome...big turf field AND a place to land a seaplane and moor it adjacent to the field...very cool if you could do it!  I would meet you in the air on the way up and we could fly in there together!

I may have to fly down to you one of these days - not really outside our range for a good breakfast or lunch...got any good crabcakes around there?

Well, I am turning my plane in to get PAINTED this weekend...they tell me it will be in there 3-4 weeks or so, but could be sooner.  It is a paint shop in someone's backyard, so it is his own grass strip in the middle of some woods -- so I will be out of flying for a while.  Funny that I searched far and wide and in the adjoining states...and ended up going to the closest place to my home field to a guy's backyard, only 30 minutes driving time and about 13 minutes flying there! Ironic!

We continue to fly SAFELY and CAREFULLY through the PANDEMIC up here in the northeast...

We have to be careful of what states the GOV says require a 14 day quarantine...well, West Virginia is OFF the list, so we set course for KMRB, Martinsburg, West Virginia!

KRMB is also an Air Force Air National Guard Base with a C-17 Wing...nice to land on something akin to the SPACE SHUTTLE RUNWAY for a change!

Great restaurant called the CROSSWIND CAFE' right on the field, so very easy to get to - taxi right up to it! The service was tremendous and so was the food - great time adn highly recommended!

Below the Cafe' is a very nice aviation museum...small, but very interesting we also recommend (FREE).

This week we had a FOUR SHIP with FIVE pilots...several using iFLY and STRATUX. That really helps with keeping the formation together, making formation requests to ATC, landing and then taking off together....

All in all, a very good time! All welcome to join us anytime!
