One feature I've used in flight a number of times is the "Extend Runways" option. It really helps in positioning early for the 45 degree entry to the downwind leg. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes 4 taps if you do the long press sequence or 5 taps if you go through the "More Options" route.

So, how about this, an option that could be turned on or off: "Auto-Extend Runways" that would apply to any airport set as a Landing or final waypoint in the flight plan. Even neater would be if the system could read the wind from the Metar and extend the runway that is most closely aligned with the current wind. Could be configured like airspace alerts to occur at some user chosen distance from the airfield.

Or maybe it's another option in the flight planning page where you set the waypoint as a Landing, then set "Auto Extend Runway x y z" via checkboxes at x miles out.

I like Tony's recommended option. In addition, another option allowing pilots to choose to plot a course to enter into the pattern for an extended runway is available on some other apps. It would be a useful option to many pilots w iFly too.

I also would like to have the option to auto-Extend the runways at the landing airport. If for whatever reason this is not done, another option to reduce the button activity would be to just extend all runways when the existing feature is used.

David,

Noted. Just to be sure you know of a shortcut. If an airport is in your flight plan, Simply Touch-Hold until your see the green dots, then release and you should see a " Extend Runways: 'xxx' " option in the list. There you will find an Extend All, and for each runway. Once Extended, if you go back there, you will have a "Hide Extended Rwys" option.

We have avoided an Auto-Extend All option simply to reduce screen clutter as many airports have several runways and the screen can become very cluttered.

It might be very feasible to auto-show for "Landing" airports. But I think that would be a user option, possibly in Map Settings. We'll take a deeper look at this again. Thanks for the feedback.

I second this suggestion. Could you just do the extended runways as each leg of a flight plan becomes active? That is, only extend the runways of the next airport? Thanks, keep up the good work.
