I am trying out iFly for Android (beta), I made the suggestion over email, but for proper netiquette I would like to document it here.

I would like to suggest that when entering a flight plan, there will be an option to provide the route not just using the fixes themselves, but possibly using victor airways, such that the clearance from ATC could be put as-is (assuming a full route clearance), and iFly would decipher what are the fixes making that route.

That option is available on some of the other software packages for Android.

It would also be nice if it understood STARs/DPs so that IFR clearances including those would be easier to program. Today, I dial those in pretty easily into my panel-mounted 430, and then use the (sometimes lengthy) list of waypoints it auto-populates to fill out the route on my iFly.

Especially now that I'm flying with both a Nexus 7 and a 720 on my yokes, I would find this a huge time saver (and less prone to error).

Tal,

Thanks for the Feedback and documentation. Victor Airways as a method of Flight Plan entry is on our internal wish-list. We were just discussing this about a week ago. Stay tuned and thanks again.
