I mentioned this back in August in the General discussion forum, and am posting here as specific wish-list feaure:

Have ifly720 with latest update to software and operating system.
Since we fly low altitudes often and our sectional is full of peaks very frequently iFly is correctly coloring and flashing many not-to-far off terrain based on altiude being below ours.
(I am not speaking of the terrain alerts pop up box ... just the flashing color overlays.)
But the red flashing/pulsating of all terrain below my current altitude is TERRIBLY distracting under conditions in which I am already well aware already of surroundings.
So much so I virtually always disable that feature-- turn terrain color flashing off.. Defeating its purpose.
I would turn it back on only if caught (as I never should be) in well below VFR conditions.
As you'll see below my wish-list item is to have this configurable so I'm not forced to take make the all-or-nothing decision on this feature.
The flashing color overlays also make reading detail such as obstacle altitude figures on the sectional that are under the flashing red difficult. I imagine the pulsating flashing could be even more distracting at night.
What I would like as my first chioce would be that color warning be keep but that flashing would be user configurable to only come on under more urgent/higher risk parameters. And/or that the intensity of the color could be user set to a softer subtle level that's not so distracting.
I would like to have terrain color alerts user configurable in TIME setting. That is, for example to set it so that it comes on ONLY when ,for example, I am predicted to come within 500 feet of terrain within the next five minutes if maintaining my present course, descent, and speed.
At minimum I would like the system modified to allow meto be able to keep the terrain yellow and red warning colors but turn of the flashing/pulsating of the color overlays.

Alex,

The upcoming Version 7.5 adds the ability to make the terrain flash, be solid or disable it altogether. It will be very simple to access the settings from the Menu or from the Alert Window. Basically you'll be able to have a alert window pop and hit Setting to change the Highlights to Flash, Solid or Disable along with the Highlighting Radius. I think you'll like this very much.

The Flashing and Solid Highlights will have multiple levels. Basically the highlight intensity will increase with the severity of the terrain alert. More details will be provide in the manual upon release.

Inform = Least Highlight,
Warning = Moderate Highlight,
Critical = Heavier Highlight.

This will allow you to be able to see chart details easily and yet be aggressively notified visually in a more critical scenario. I hope this helps.

Forgive me if this was already discussed, or found in the manual, but is there a way to see the effects of the terrain configuration changes while on the ground, in simulator mode, for example?

If the effects can't be seen, I would like to suggest this ability be added to the list. I would imagine it wouldn't be prudent to put yourself in proximity of an obstacle, while in flight, while you cycle through the various configuration changes.

Mike,

You can actually put the iFly in Simulation Mode and fly around obstacles and terrain to see the effects of these changes. There is not a status or mode window. However, in the upcoming version 7.5, while in Sim Mode or in Flight, you can touch the setting from the alert or the Terrain window to change the relative settings. Then just fly the iFly in sim mode and you'll see those changes to terrain highlighting, alerts and etc. However there are no pop-up windows spelling out those changes, that might be an idea.

Maybe this is what you are looking for. We've made some improvements and changes to more quickly access and make these changes.
