I like the ifly as it is and wouldn't see any value in an app for the ipad or android. Those apps already exist and would be VERY difficult to play catch-up. I use my ipad or skypad(Seattle Avionics) to do all my planning, filing and preflight. Then I download the flightplan thru a usb stick to my ifly and fly. It's just like having a tomtom for the sky. It would be great if there was a way to use wifi to pull the flightplan to the ifly either from the "cloud" or direct from a peer to peer?

I know we've talked about the upload/download and cloud feature and I'm looking forward to it. As to your direct question, yes I would still use my skypad for many reasons. Actually to be more percise it's Voyager software running on my laptop/desktop. It is so easy to cut and paste search routes, use a real keyboard and mouse and mainain a db of planes, access and brief thru duat, etc... I then send my plans to my ipad and ifly. The ifly gets mounted to the yoke and off I go. The ipad is my backup should I find myself needing to update or change in an fbo. The only disconnect is if I change something there's no easy way to get the update from the ipad to the ifly. Luckily those are rare changes and I can live with it. Although not quote the right thread, I get concerned you may add too much then have to have new hardware, like a 740, and those of use with 700/720's start running out of memory or seeing slower performance. My preference would be to see the ifly grow for the inflight experience with things like better traffic, etc...

Very good information. Please know our focus is to make the iFly GPS the best overall in-flight experience. However there are opportunities to add web based enhancement in the future. I visualize a blend of PC/web and device feature the bridge the overall experience. Nothing committed to for now but some great ideas.

Keep in mind the you can plan flight with many web and pc based flight planners, then export to a GPX file onto a USB. Then load that flight into the iFly from that USB drive. AOPA flight planner, Flightsoft, en-Flight and possibly Voyager do this.

Also know that improved Traffic is on our list. Integration with Zaon is on our wishlist and improved ADS-B traffic is very important, especially as the ADS-B platform develops more. At the present time ADS-B traffic is very limited and unless you have a UAT transceiver, I would not rely on it much. This will change as more aircraft become ADS-B out equipped. For now, we should keep our eyes in the sky.
