I just logged on my Linux box. After logging in (first time I used Linux on iFly), I logged out of Linux, then restarted Linux, opened Firefox and checked for updates, iFly recognised me, I didn't have to log in.
You're right though. Linux uses preferences. I forgot to to say before, under windoze before Options, to click on Tools.
Do you have 'remember passwords for sites' checked under the Security tab? Possibly under the 'Privacy' tab you might have 'Tell web sites I do not want to be tracke'? I don't have it check, might be worth a check.
Interesting that it works for you. What version of Firefox are you running? I have 13.0.
Of course I have "Remember passwords for sites" checked; that's why it remembers most of my passwords. I also have "Tell websites I do not want to be tracked" checked. However, I just tried entering an ID and password at 2 sites where I don't have an account, and in both cases it offered to remember the password, so that doesn't seem to be an issue.
