I strongly agree with Tim's request that you remove many of the buttons from the screen when using an approach chart. They get in the way and force you to drag the chart around at a time when it is TOO distracting!

I don't agree with removing the buttons when displaying approach plates just because it may be distracting for some users. If it is not too complicated to do so, I would prefer making the buttons users definable in approach mode, similar to the way instruments are user definable. I have a different set of instruments just for approach plate mode. Why not do something similar for the buttons in approach plate mode? ---Ralph

Actually I was thinking something similar to that as well Ralph, Seems the only buttons we might need are the one that puts you back on the maps one for more plates and the two for zoom. Maybe even just one that brings the regular buttons back up.

Just a thought.

I'll answer your question as best as possible. As always, any target dates or version are "planned"...not set in stone. And please understand why: There are three variables I can adjust when developing software: resources, delivery date, and quality. My resources are fixed, and I won't budge on quality, so if a feature is harder to develop than we initially planned it's the date that moves.

Anyway, we originally planned to have portait mode in v7. And we planned to have v7 ready this month. But terrain & obstructions aren't done yet. So rather than delay v7 longer than necessary when this is through QA we'll release the terrain feature, then resume on portait mode and release 7.5 with that version. I suspect it will be done and released sometime this summer.
