Hmmm, I'll have to try this again on our next flight - but I'm pretty sure we've been able to "see" adsb traffic much farther away than 15 miles - and here's why it should be available to iFly users - it's a nice feature to be able to look ahead at an airport that where we're planning on landing - and being able to see which way other aircraft is landing is a good thing.

Doesn't mean the landing direction won't change before we get there, but for planning an approach the info is important to us.

Yes, as I mentioned before, while the data broadcast from FAA towers only delivers traffic targets within your "hockey puck", which is limited to 15 mile radius, direct air-to-air transmissions between aircraft can *possibly* be farther than that.  But reception of air-to-air signals is highly variable, because it depends on many factors as described above.  Thus, "your mileage may vary."

I've brought this up in a features meeting. FWIW this is a great idea, but it would need to be paired with a connected device, ie a phone or cellular tablet to have streaming data in from an outside source. Not something you can do with a stratux, or in fact while you're connected to stratux. Maybe if you have a twin device setup.

Thanks, Brolin. It was a wish borne of frustration with ADS-B, not iFly. And the dream of absolute-zero privacy--NO! what am I saying?!  I mean, wouldn't it be swell if we could know where everyone is all the time. Actually, I just love Apple's "Where's My" app that lets my wife know where I am all the time and when I'll be where I said I'd be. And vice versa, of course. Well, okay, mixed feelings about alla that privacy stuff.

I get it... it's a wonder that Apple can find my iPhone across town but I can't find it across my room!
