The Stratux GPS and AHRS are $15 each on Amazon.  You might as well order and install both so you will have a fully functioning Stratux.

I'd really like it if iFly team could get whatever they need from the STRATUS people so iFly could use the Stratus WiFi.  We had that system installed in our C172.  Maybe if all the iFly owners called Stratus (or stop at their booth at Airventure) and told them they'd like to buy their product, if only it would work with iFly.   :-D

You can try, but for a lot of years now, FF and Stratus have made no secret that they work with each other, and nobody else, and they don't seem to be in any hurry to change.  Call 'em yourself and see what they tell you.  (I sent FF an email way back when they were still pretty young, asking if they had any plans to support Android, and they basically told me, "Nope, never, nada, no way, no how, uh-uh.  Buh-bye.")

Gents, I do not mean to sound flippant or off topic, but my technique to losing the App is to revert to a back-up paper chart - I always have one in the plane, especially around where I fly, which is littered with SUA's, TFR's, RAs, SFRA's, FRZ's, blah, blah, blah....

There is just too much that can go wrong with computer systems, apps, programs, etc. for me NOT to take a $7.00 chart with me, even it goes a little obsolete.

I really lamented the day they ended WAC charts, as those covered HUGE amounts of area - but alas, they are gone....

Anyway, I don't think there will ever come a day where I don't carry along some basic VFR charts....sorry if I seem old fashioned, but just too much scar-tissue from failed avionics over the years...

Most of the time they just sit there as IFly has never failed me, but I like my computer a lot more when I am not totally dependent upon it!

I carried backup paper charts (always current) until a couple years ago.  With a panel mount G300 and iFly on iPad and iPhone, I figured I'm covered.  Even if the GPS system goes down, I think I could drag the iFly chart and use it like a paper chart.

I love Mike's suggestion!

In addition to the more extreme tracking failure modes Mike mentioned, I add that once I lost enough satellites to the point of having no iFly Navigation for about 10 minutes (felt like half an hour) just by being under heavy complete overcast.
