I've never flown at the altitudes where high altitude charts are used.  For all my IFR flying below about 12,000 feet, the low altitude charts are all I would ever need or use.  For VFR flying, I prefer Sectionals for the reason stated above.  I know a lot of pilots like vector charts for VFR flying.  I think it's a moot point what the airlines use.

The airlines aren't a moot point. I bring them up because they operate under the most stringent regulations and look for the most efficiency within those regs.

All the Part 135 and Part 91 (corporate) guys I know prefer the vector charts as well. In their cases, they use either Jepp or ForeFlight.

What iFly offers is the only vector chart available for the Android platform. I know guys who hate Apple but buy an iPad because they want the vector charting through ForeFlight. If the iFly team can improve the vector product they can capture a lot of this market.

You like vector charts better as well, you just don't recognize it yet. Think about this: when you use a map on your computer or smartphone, do you use a digital image of a paper roadmap? Or do you use a vector roadmap? If you use Google or Bing Maps you're using vector mapping.

My posts are in regards to aviation charts, not road maps.  I'm not concerned about airspace, restricted or prohibited areas, MOA's, etc. when driving my car.  My only point of disagreement was I did not envision a lot of IFR pilots using vector charts instead of low altitude enroute charts.  If you produce a vector chart with all the low altitude airways, etc., what is the difference in it versus a low altitude enroute chart?

For VFR flight, I can see why some pilots prefer the non-cluttered vector charts.  I don't.

Johnny, I love you so much, but the above statements illustrate the fact that you don't understand vector charting.

I'm working on a presentation for you so you can understand why I prefer vector charts and why they are the future. It may take me a couple of days so hold tight.

I know nothing about vector charts except what I see on the iFly vector charts.  They are relatively clean and simple, but not my preference for flying VFR.  I prefer to "see it all."  For IFR flying, which I no longer do, I would want to see all the airways, intersections, navaids, airports, etc. and have access to sids, stars, and approaches.  I'm not sure there is much more depicted on a low-altitude enroute chart that I would want removed to produce a vector chart.

Regardless, don't waste your time trying to explain it for me.  I'm just a customer here and I am quitting flying now that I have reached age 70.  I have decided, that 53 years of flying light aircraft is enough and it's time to move on to other things.
