So, I was trying to look ahead today on a 350 mi XC today to get some weather.

I suppose if my flight plan had a bunch of airports for waypoints, I could do this from the FP page.

But my FP was from Departure to Destination Direct.

Now, here in the desert SW, there can be a bunch of small and/or private strips near you with no wx reporting. So if you call up NRST, to get the nearest baro setting, you'll get a bunch of fields around you. But not the nearest altimeter setting 100 miles down the road.

Same if you asked "What if I press on? What's the next nearest airport for Remain Over Night 50 miles down the road near my course?" Not that I don't already have an idea from preflight planning. But would like to save a lot of panning ahead.

So, would it be possible for iFly to find the 5 nearest airports ahead of you along your course line? (Kinda like the way that the VP looks ahead of you?) And if so, would this be a desirable feature? Or would it only clutter the Filter list?

Interesting idea. Say you get stopped by wx, does Ifly have data available to search for camping airport, restaurant on field, courtesy car, attended and still open, etc.? Might have to go to AOPA data base for that.
