Not really a "Wish-List" thing. More of a Request for Enhancement.

So, I know most here are opposed to windows auto-closing. But I think I can make a good case for it here.

Was flying today in some rapidly changing (convective) wx. In fact, the forecasts didn't foresee the thunderstorms!

NEXRAD was showing stuff ahead of me, and I was wondering if a SIGMET might pop up in front of me.

So I enabled the AIRMET Layer and clicked the button for thunderstorms.

The count was "0,” but I figured I would leave the layer on to see if a SIGMET popped up. (In addition to seeing it, I presumed that the counter would increment up.)

Now that I'm back home, I'm guessing that the AIRMET layer (nor the METAR layer) update in real time. Rather, you have to toggle it on/off to get the latest update? This alone should be reason to time out the AIRMET layer, to force the user to get a refresh. Update: I saw the TS count change at home on the couch, with WiFi. Am guessing that it updates when new wx comes in to trigger. Now, whether it will paint a new SIGMET outline (or remove an old one), without toggling the Layer, I don't"t know.

More crucially tho, there had been a TFR for a fire on my trip out. I didn't see the TFR painting on my way home and thought that maybe it was cancelled because of the rain.

Wrong. It turns out that the AIRMET layer hides TFR's. (Guessing by design and for good reason.)

But there's no way to know that TFR's are hidden when the AIRMET layer is enabled. So perhaps it would be safest if iFly timed out the AIRMET layer after 5 minutes in order to show TFR's?

As it was, I got suspicious and thought that maybe iFly disabled TFR's when the AIRMET Layer is on.

Good thing because I had to sneak by the TFR while deviating for the TRW's.

Yeah, too many colors over wide areas.
