I've been an Avare user up to this point. I always thought their "Terrain" map feature was a simply elegant way to present the terrain. It color codes the terrain around you (red, yellow, or black). If you're flying in the mountains, and you stay in the black, then you're safe. Yellow means the terrain there is near your altitude, and red means you're below it. Just a thought.
