If this idea has been mentioned before, then please disregard.

Flew Friday morning. Checked local fuel prices before the trip and found $3.65 on my route. Stopped for fuel - it had gone up a bit. (Manager said it had been at the higher price for a week.)

Interestingly, after I landed, I rechecked the prices while on-line at the FBO. This time the price was correct. I don't know how often the data base is updated and/or updates sent out over iFly. (The new fuel price on iFly (on the GlobalAir page) said that price had changed 8 days ago. So - a dumb question: Does iFly always update fuel prices when I'm on-line, or only when I've got the Fuel Price layer active and am on-line? 'Cause, IIRC, I saw the lower fuel price when I was checking prices Friday morning off-line.)

Anyway, thought it might be cool for a check box somewhere on the Airport Info page that asks "Is this fuel price correct?" If not, then perhaps users could enter the correct fuel price and iFly could send it to GlobalAir? (Probably same check boxs or a corrections page for all the other stuff too. But fuel is the primary thing.)

FWIW, I've found that GlobalAir doesn't seem to have the latest info about FBO's in general and certainly not for current fuel prices.

We prefer to use 100ll.com for fuel pricing - we've only been surprised once by a different price than shown on their website, but I'm sure others mileage may vary...

And reporting current fuel prices would benefit all iFly users so EM's idea is a good one!

This might be a Catch-22 type situation. I spoke with the Manager at Ak-Chin Airport about the discrepancy in fuel price and mentioned that GlobalAir was the source of the data. He said that he gets an email from GlobalAir every now and then asking about his fuel prices. But he said he tends not to answer them. Whereas he said he answered the inquiries from the other players.

So maybe he (and other Managers) don't think GlobalAir is big enough to bother with?

I don't know. But giving iFly users a direct channel to GlobalAir thru the iFly App would be a work around. (Maybe GlobalAir would give iFly a discount since iFly would be providing a service?) While I could use an alternative source for fuel prices, the appeal of using the iFly App is convenience. I can see the prices all at once on one app, on a nice map.

Mike, your assessment of the situation is as usual, spot on. We'd much rather use iFly for planning our fuel stops as it's certainly more convienent that having to open a browser window to access an alternative fuel pricing source.

Crowd sourcing certainly works well for others (gasbuddy.com for one) - maybe GlobalAir will get on the bandwagon too.

I would rather see IFly use a more reliable data source. I don't like the idea of IFly users inputting data.
