When setting the altitude(s) on the Altitude Planning screen, it'd be nice if somewhere on there it gave the magnetic course so I'd know if I needed an even or odd altitude. On a multiple-leg route, I currently have to go back to the Flight Plan screen if it's reasonably close to a north/south route to see which altitude to pick. It can be displayed down along the ground, or pop up with the altitude and distance when the line is dragged. I'd prefer it be on the ground so my fat finger isn't hiding it.

Jeff, excellent idea. I'll strongly second this one!

All this could be handled by the "optimizer" including the climb or descent when you go from one quadrant to the next, and on the vertical profile maybe use two different colors to visualize the east/west portion of the flight, of course this would be useful only when flying a generally multi legs, north/south course. I just wonder if an autopilot could follow this scenario, (I do not have one) so excuse my ignorance

The "Optimize" function will peg you to the correct Even or Odd and even +500s for VFR, depending on flight direction and aircraft ceiling set in the aircraft profile. It's when you start manually dragging that line is when it allows for 500 increments, then snaps to 1000's. This was an internal debate area too, so it was expected on the forums as well.
