Before someone squawks that iFly shouldn't be used for instrument approached, it would be very useful to be able track a radius while VFR at unfamiliar airports and as a backup. I see this capability as VERY desirable in iFly

Track a radius? What does that mean? I can see why someone might want to use IFly as if it was a Nav radio and track a VOR radial or maybe a "radial" from an airport to simulate a localizer. Is there some other reason I am missing?

Of course, you can already do that by using the GPS bearing to an airport or VOR much like you would do with an NDB.

Old timer
My software changed term radial to radius; I never claimed to be an attentive typist .

HOWEVER, the proposed capability would ALSO provide an easy means to maintain a fixed distance from a VOR... No apology needed for that thought.

You can do that now. Add or subtract 90 degrees from the bearing to the VOR and fly that heading. Adjust as necessary to maintain distance.

Just would be nice to see a graphic depictione.g. Asked to fly the xxx radial from a station for now (I.e not tracking to a specific waypoint, maybe just outbound on that radial for X miles) or I want to intercept the xyz radial to a station it would be nice to see that radial depicted. If I could set a course as an outbound radial this could also be sent to my EFIS for the HSI. The key is that the nmea is sending the course.
