(updated for clarity) Subj line says it all. I would like the Extend Runways window to automatically close after I make a runway selection. Would be a nice "polish" feature.

For an airport with only one runway, which is probably the majority of them, I don't see why the window needs to stay open so that I can extend opposite ends of the same runway. (In an Emergency, "Extend All.")

I don't know why I would want two runways showing at a multiple airport runway. But that could still be done. (Albeit with more clicks.) Or, change the "Close" to "Select Multiple Runways," then add a "Done" button if the user enters that state.

iFly already offers "Extend All" (for emergency, I presume?), so no need to keep the window open to check all the runways off.

I suppose one reason for making us close the window manually is in case a user "fat fingers" the wrong runway selection? Of course, a user could fat finger the close button by mistake too. A fat finger error doesn't happen that often with the big Windows with radio button/check boxes, and isn't unrecoverable. Just have to go back to QV and start again if the window auto closes.

Mike,

Good feedback. I know we've talked about showing or prompting runways for "Landing" Airports. I'll add this to the Wishlist and we can discuss it more. Just have to be careful about how to auto close. Tapping a runway typically brings up Airport Info, maybe by tapping the "numbered circle" on the extended runway marker could close it. I'll relay this to Walter and Brian for some feedback. Maybe more of a One-Tap close than an auto close.

We try to note make to make left curves in the UI, so as not to frustrate the existing user base. It works well when we can layer functions in, rather than a total new concept. Thanks for the feedback.

============

It never occurred to me that I could tap the runway as a touch input. (Or do you mean tap the airport for the QV?)

As for tapping the numbered circle - I must have not be clear. It's the "Extend Runway" window I'm asking for the autoclose feature. Not the Extension itself.

I don't know what I would intuitively expect from tapping the numbered circle. But I doubt I could tap on the circle with any precision anyway.

You can tap a runway and touch nav, then you'd have an option to insert that runway endpoint as a waypoint, basically a lat/log. If you touch the runway it's likely going to bring up a QV for the Airport.

As for the auto close of extended runways, I misunderstood and thought you wanted to auto close the extension itself.

Keep in mind you can also tap the map, or drag he map and it will close as well as if you tap the Recenter Icon it will close. You don't have to actually touch the close. I don't see auto closing the selection window after one selection as we've had customer like the fact we can extend multiple runways. Auto closing the extension after landing is what I was thinking. I thought tapping the numbered circle on the extension could close it or bring up the extension options. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm not a huge fan of the "auto closing window" idea on iFly. On windows where multiple selection options are possible, I prefer the ability to confirm that my ham-fisted attempt to make the right input was successful before the window goes away. If a bump of turbulence hits and I miss my mark and get the wrong runway, I don't want to go through multiple button presses to get back to where I was so I can fix it (probably fighting turbulence and spewing curse words the whole way).
