With the recent release of 9.x, WiFi connectivity is the key to establishing a Data Interlink between two devices. To successfully connect the devices, they must both be on the same WiFi network (SSID).

Please add a new field to the Instrument Group called SSID. Display the SSID of the WiFi network that the IFly 7xx is connected to. This info will enable to the Pilot to verify that both the IFly 7xx and the IOS/Android device are on the same WiFi network. If Different SSIDs are displayed on the two units, then the Pilot need only correct the problem and successfully internlink the devices.

Jim,

Good feedback. I'll add that to the wish-list. Having a better, faster way to verify the Wi-Fi network is a great suggestion, especially with the new Local Sharing option.

May I suggest that instead of, or in addition to, being an instrument option, that the SSID reside somewhere like Menu>About? I don't yet have use for the SSID, so I don't know if it's something that I'd want to monitor all the time while flying.

I agree with Mike. I dont see the SSID field being a permanent field in any of the Instrument Groups. I see it as an optional field one can choose to add to an Instrument Group when knowing this info is useful to the Pilot while using the Interlink. Another reason I see the SSID field being useful is that I have noticed that when one is in a WiFi signal rich environment many devices have the capability to automatically switch to a stronger signal source. If you are using the Interlink when one of the devices auto selects another WiFi source, the Interlink will fail. There could be a background process running during an Interlink session that would display an error message alerting the Pilot that there is an SSID mismatch issue regardless of which function the Pilot is working in like Flight Planning. This system wide error reporting capability would be useful since the SSID field would only be visable when viewig the Navigation screen. It really depends on just how the IFly guys want to approach the issue.

Probably wouldn't put it as an instrument, my initial thought was to suggest to include a Connected To: "SSID" line that shows up in the About menu when connected to a wifi network or device. Maybe even have it show No Network Connection when not connected. Touching it could take you to the WiFi setup to change or connect.

Good feedback, we'll discuss it more in our development discussions, Thanks for the feedback.
