I offered that it could be an optional setting. So for those who want it, it auto closes and we have a "Hold" button. For those who don't want it, don't set the option. We make it "opt in," so that if you don't want it, it doesn't affect you in any way. Please, what's the down side? I don't see one.

I just don't think it's a good idea. Reasonable people can disagree.

OK, you click on an airport then click hold. Then you decide to click on More Options. Is there another hold button? Where does it go when it times out? You click Search Nearby. Is there another hold button?

IFly allows us to navigate lots of different places and information. do they all time out? do they all have hold buttons.

I don't want IFly to attempt to become a mindless app that automatically does everything for me.

It would also divert resources away from other enhancements.

I think it's great to suggest enhancements and/or improvements, but don't expect everyone to embrace all of them or even most of them. A lot of it is an individual's vision of what this app should be.

Respectfully, I still don't understand your opposition. No one is forcing this on you. But you seem to be "forcing" not having the feature on those who might want it. (Or might want to try it in a beta.)

I would like this particular feature. It doesn't harm you if the feature is available as an optional setting but you don't use it. (Just like it doesn't harm you if there is an Obstacles option for Vector charts but you never use it.)

To answer your first question, after you click "Hold' on the Quick View box, it remains until you either unHold it (which closes it) or until you click another button in the Quick View. After that, operation is the same as it has always been. (That is, no time out.)

The concept is that Quick View is exactly what it says, a "quick" view. My Fuel Totalizer has the same feature - I push a button on it and it shows me Fuel Remaining for a few seconds. I don't have to do two operations (select Fuel Remaining and then go back to Fuel Flow) to see fuel remaining. The old Zaon MRX had a similar feature for quick info.

Whether it takes resources away from other enhancements, I do not know. It seems to me that's something for iFly to decide.

As for your extending the concept of auto-time out to other boxes... I didn't propose that. So what can I say about something I didn't say?

I think we have some really good feedback and great points from both sides of the fence on this. Let us brainstorm this internally and Walter and our development team can make some decisions that best fits most customers as well as keeps a good balance of consistency. We are looking to offer some additional customizable features that minimize the impact to those not interested.

We are all very passionate about this product and we thank you all for your efforts as well. We definitely want to keep our focus on keeping it simple for the pilot, I think we can all appreciate that. Thanks again for everybody's feedback on this one.

Obviously, if it were totally optional there would be no reason to object to it. I would be opposed to having to select a hold button and I would be opposed to losing a close button.

Of course it would take resources away from other projects unless Adventure Pilot has developers on staff with nothing else to work on. On the other hand, if they think this idea has merit, it would fall in line along with all the others.
