I am going to resurect an old wish list item from me.

Getting back into more instrument flying and using a 720 plus a Nexus 7. Really need to have the ability to see an uncluttered and correctly scaled approach plate. In real world I would leave the Nexus on the Co-Pilot yoke with the map up and use the 720 for the approach plate.

Would be great to have a pre-loaded or at least customizable instrument set up for approach plates where all you saw was the data on the approach plate. When in the soup moving your approach plate around to see everything is tough.

Saw another thread asking for a real full dimming of the buttons as they block soem of the data at the bottom of the plate. Agree with that one as well.

I was told NOT to use I fly for Hard IFR, witch is what you are Doing, I would think twice about this, but in my experience the unit may decide to freeze at anytime, and the time to reboot is way too long if you are less than 10 miles from the threshold, maybe , but you never mentioned it you are using it (IFly) with other IFR Compliant units?. This is of course my humble assessment of your wishes

Your wish is our command. This was actually added in V8, but we don't over-write older Instrument Groups you already set. We added a "BLANK" group, that you can choose when you are on a Plate and it will remain sticky next time to go to "Plates" mode.

You can get the default Instruments by going to Menu -> Setup -> Instrument Layouts and then choose Reset Defaults. You will loose any of your customer instruments settings, but you'd get the new Blank option. You can also create a Blank group and choose it when on a plate and it will be the group that comes up the next time you view a plate.

Also, in the next Version 9, we added a new "Button Fading" setting. This fourth setting will fade the buttons 100%, whereas the current Full is not completely faded. I think you will all love the new Version 9 when it comes out.

I will check that out on my iFly unit, I think I saw the BLANK instrument group on my Nexus 7 but have not seen it on my droid phone. Hope I didn't delete it not knowing what is was.

I dont use the ifly for instrument approaches other than providing a viewable plate, and I have a backup for it. Certified instruments are used for all instrument navigation.

Shane,

I reset my blank instrument group and it is very close but cuts off a bit of the plate on all four sides. This is on my phone mind you, so I will check my iFly and Nexus for this as well.

Thanks
