Hi Guys -
I am just amazed at what the iFly GPS system is doing these days. By system, I mean the iFly 700 series, the iFly app for the iPad, and the iFly app for the Android. Truly, aviation navigation has never been easier nor safer. We all owe the Adventure Pilots a big thank you for a great product and great service.

Now I know that work is still going on to fix small issues like instrument label size and larger issues like seamless charts, but to be honest, I can not imagine anymore major improvements. - At lest for VFR fliers like myself. What a long way we have come from the days when we used to spread our charts out on the floor and snap a line from departing airport to destination airport! And lugging around AOPA's Airport Director for airport information. And airspace information - well, back then we really didn't have all that many airspace restrictions. And weather! I still like to talk to the FSS and file my VFR flight plan by phone, but as they say, a picture is worth a 1,000 words. All of this in one product! Thank you AP.

Anyway, back to the subject and why I am writing. The only other major improvement that I can think of that would be beneficial to me would be the ability to transfer flight plans from my tablet to my iFly 700 GPS. I use my table mainly for flight planning. I fly with my 700 and two other GPS (one is IFR certified).

Here are the specifics that I would like to see:
1) Ability to chose specific flight plans to transfer from tablet to iFly700.
2) Ability to transfer flight plans by USB thumb drive (memory stick). I don't like putting in and taking out SD cards.
3) Ability to transfer latest weather and TFR's information from tablet to iFly700. - Again by USB thumb drive.

Well, that's all that I can think of. I'm sure other people will want other bells and whistles. But as for me, I'm a KISS type of guy.

Jim,

Thanks for your kind comments. I think you'll like what we have planned over the next year, Seamless, Split Screen, Fuel Prices, Flight Filing, and many more. We are only getting started so there is still some really good room for improvements and new features, done the iFly way -- keep it simple to use.

This Flight Plan or Data sharing is most definitely something we are working on for a future update. There are several options we are looking at. It could be a combination of device-to-device sharing, cloud upload/download, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth sharing via a hub or connected device. We have in mind to share Flight Plans, Charts, Profiles, Updates, Weather, etc. Allowing you to update and plan on your tablet, then push or share all that new data and plans to the other device, albeit another tablet or iFly 720, etc. Stay tuned.

Please know that everything we do, we always try an keep it simple and safe. Keeping your eyes outside the plane keeps you safe and confident, and that is one of our main goals. Have a great week.

I too would love this ability. I would like to be able to create it on one "my wife's 720" and then add it to my 700 as it stays mounted in the aircraft. Or better yet create it on my laptop at home and then be able to share with the Ifly units. Thanks for the great work you guys have done for me over the past many years. You are the best value in aviation form my perspective!

Why is seamless so important, because I have used other seamless Android apps and I quite prefer the way iFly is working in this area. I particular like the I can just slide over to the published legend and other notes. Given how nice iFly selects the chart I want, I see seamless as a lessor solution. In my being well versed with other apps iFly excels here.

I think the biggest reason is flight planning. Having a seamless layout is much nicer. I currently use ForeFlight for this as i can get the big picture quickly. As soon as iFly has this, and better weather charts, my ForeFlight days are over...

The other problem is when you are flying near a corner of a chart. This happens in the northeast a lot and it can sometimes take several taps to bring up the right one. It's not a major problem but it is inconvenient. I see what you mean about the legend and notes...I guess it could be an asset when changing plans in flight but I've never had that happen.
