Greetings iFly Owners,

The Version 6 Software Update is now available for download on the iFly Update portal. This update adds Geo-Referenced Approach Plates and Airport Diagrams, ADS-B Weather/Traffic Support and many other enhancements. A higher resolution Vector Mode now includes lakes, rivers, roads as well as private airports. In addition, you will notice a "Direct-To this Waypoint" feature added to the Flight Plan form in the Waypoint options. To read more details regarding the Version 6 Press Release, Click Here.

When Updating to Version 6 Software, please follow these additional procedures below. You will need to perform two separate updates to complete this process. The first is to update the Software, Weather and Databases. The second is to update the Geo-referenced Approach Plates for IFR Subscriptions and/or Airport Diagrams for VFR subscriptions. Both steps are needed for all new features to work.

Update Step #1 (Updating the Software, Weather and Databases)

  • Go to the Update Tab to create an Update Package.
  • Check the first 3 boxes and create update package. (Weather & TFR, Airport & Navaid Database and Software)
  • Create an Update Package and update your iFly GPS as usual.
  • You may get ToolHelp.DLL error... Press OK. (This is normal when updating from V5 Software.)
  • Complete your update process as usual.

Update Step #2 (Updating to the Geo-Referenced Approach Plates for IFR and/or Airport Diagrams for VFR)

  • Create an Update Package with the "Plates & Airport Diagrams" box checked.
  • Select the desired Plates and Airport Diagrams.
    • VFR subscribers will see "Airport Diagrams".
    • VFR+IFR subscribers will see "Plates & Airport Diagrams".
  • Create an Update Package and update your iFly GPS as usual.
  • Enjoy your new features and fly safe.

We are in the process of updating the iFly Owners Manual with the Version 6 Software Features and additions. Please feel free to email support@adventurepilot.com if you have any questions in the interim. We hope you enjoy this Version 6 Software Update and tell your fellow pilots about the iFly GPS.

Fly Safe,

Your Adventure Pilot Team

Just keeps getting better!

Of course the Geo-Referenced Plates & Diagrams are great, can’t wait to take it for a test drive.

One I had not seen mentioned is the ability to Exit the Aviation GPS program and go into the iFlyStreets! A real plus for those like me that like to use both modes in the car.

Hello Shane,

I down loaded the version 6 software and went through two steps. The Geo Reference on airport diagram is not working for me. I have down loaded the plates and diagram again today. Not sure if it works. It doesn't work in the sim mode. I will try it again in actual mode tomorrow at the airport. What could be the issue?

Thank you

Nick.

10-9-11.

Hi Shane,

I tried it again, the geo refrence on airport diagarm doesn't work. Can you please help? The Geo on the approach works great though.

Are all airport diagrams georeferenced? I ask this question because I landed at 4 airports in the last two days and half weren't georeferenced when I selected the airport diagram. Worked for: Rocford, IL (RFD) Class C airport and San Antonio (SAT) Class B airport. Did not work for: Newton, KS (EWK) uncontrolled and Texarkana, AR (TXK). So when advertised as having georeferenced airport diagrams should there be a clarification along the lines that it works only in the case of Class C or larger airports? Or is one of us confused (me, Adventure Pilot, the database supplier or the iFly unit)?

The FAA has published about 900 airport diagrams; not every airport has a diagram. We have about 95% of those georeferenced. Some are not georeferencable because of errors in the plate, others were pulled by us because of errors in the georeference data we receive.

EWK does not have an FAA published airport diagram. We pulled TXK because the georeference data did not seem to perfectly match the plate. These are reviewed each month, it may be added in the future.

Thanks!
Walter
