I've owned my Ifly GPS for about a year and like it very much. But it’s always been problematic that a update file larger than about 250 to 300 MB would update to the GPS without the “unable to process” IO exception so it has been generally necessary to make the files even smaller to complete the process. Several different flash drives have been tried with 250 MB, 1, 2 and 4 GB memory with no apparent difference in behavior or if the USB drive were ejected or not.
Since installing the Street Navigation program, things are much more exasperating, it now generally installs two or three low enroute charts before upchucking as it were and after about 20 attempts to load incrementally the enroutes and sectional charts, I have now given up trying to update the approach plates. It generally stops at the first plate if it got that far, even after re-downloading the plates from your web site several times and selecting only five States or so. Reloading the same file to another flash drive gave the same behavior. Early in this game of how to fool the device into accepting the data the version 5.15 software was downloaded and reloaded into the GPS but this time I got an error saying “unable to load toolhelp.dll”. Although the GPS appears to operate normally with the mix of expired and current data, it still won’t accept a normal update.
