Greetings iFly Owners,

We just pushed out our new Version 9 software for iFly 700, iFly 520, iFly 720, and iFly 740 owners. If you have a valid subscription, please download it and let us know what you think! There are several really sweet new features in this release, here is a summary:

  • Easy-View Seamless Charts
    • Crisper, higher-resolution charts
    • Chart overlap ensure no "clipped" data
    • Toggle between TAC, WAC, Sectional, IFR Insets, Etc.
  • Dynamic Overlays
    • Add Nexrad, Metars, TAFs to any Chart
    • Adjust Nexrad transparency to enhance visibility
    • Easily toggle obstructions, traffic, terrain, etc
  • Smart-Legends
    • Fast access to chart legends
    • View legend info by type
  • High Enroute IFR Charts
  • Quick-View Popup
    • Anticipates and summarizes the information you need
    • Summary popup cross-referenced with map highlights
    • Zoom to selected items
  • Approach Plates overlaid on charts
    • Adjustable transparency maximizes chart readability
    • Invert plate colors for high contrast view
    • Pin plates to your flight plans
  • Airport Diagrams overlaid on Real View images
When you upgrade your device to Version 9, you will also need to download a new set of VFR and IFR Charts. So please be prepared for a large download.
You have 3 ways to update:
1) iFly Connect (this is the fastest method)

2) WiFi direct from your iFly 720. But, with this method, you will first need to update to the latest version 8 software if you haven't done that yet.

3) The old faithful "Create Update Package" page. Full directions can be found on that page.
Let us know what you think!
Thanks,
Walter

Excellent release! Love the seamless sectionals, fuel prices (great presentation). Will explore more next week if I get to fly some, but I already got my money's worth...

Thank you for all your hard work.

This weekend I had the opportunity to fly with version .26 on my 740, on which I had just upgraded the OS to v.xx.11. After I realized I had to close the GPS application then use "Setup" "Network" to get the WiFi to connect to my SkyGuard transceiver, then launch the GPS application, everything worked great. This was the first time running the .11 OS on the 740. Once connected, I did not notice any WiFi dropouts during the flight. After I landed I shut down the SkyGuard, waited a minute or two, then turned it back on and the 740 recognized it automatically.
Other than that, the 740 + version 9 combination is AWESOME. The 740 in GPS navigation mode is fantastic: Bright screen even with my skylight overhead; lightening fast response; new ball mount is tight and secure. Well worth the upgrade. And software version 9.0.26 is great to fly with. New pop-up menu structure is superb in flight. The traffic display is amazing on the 740, especially the vibrant colors on the 740. The new quick pop-up menu is a real winner. And layering the Wx over any map is implemented extremely well. It amazes me how you guys at AP can keep making the iFly hardware & software better and better, but you have done just that. Thanks. I am sure we'll be suggesting some minor tweaks here and there in the future, but so far the 740 with ver. 9.0.26 is the best portable navigation device on the market, and the SkyGuard TWX integrates so very well with it. Hats off to Adventure Pilot! ====Ralph
