When I try to do an update of the Aviation Databases, it gets to about 71% and then says failed downloading, resets to about 35% and starts over, and over, and over, never completing the download. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Seems to download WX and charts OK. Any help would be great.

I assume you're using wi-fi on a 720, correct?

If so, of course it shouldn't do that, and hopefully someone smarter than me will be along shortly to help you correct that.

In the meantime, there are multiple ways to update an iFly, and you could try a different method.

If you have a Windows PC and an SD card read/writer, then the easiest way is to use the iFly Connect software. Instructions and software are here: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/UPDATE...

If you can't use iFly Connect, then the other way to perform the update is to use a USB thumbdrive. Go here and follow the instructions on the left side of the page: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/UPDATE...

Hope that helps.

Thanks Cobra, you rock! I did the SD card thing like I used to do pre 720 and that worked. Don't know why the Wifi way didn't work.

Glad I could help. The iFly Connect method is always a good one to remember for large updates--it'll always be faster than the wi-fi method.

But the wi-fi method is darn convenient when you've got a quick update or aren't in a hurry with a big update. I'm sure that when the AP guys get in the office tomorrow, they'll have some words of wisdom for you, or will at least invite you to call 'em on the phone to talk through it.

If the WiFi connection drops in the middle of the download, it will try restart the download. And this might be happening if you have multiple WiFi connections setup in your iFly; after a while it will drop the connection to see if there is a stronger signal, then pickup the best one. This is a bug we're working on. A workaround for you would be to check your list of wifi networks, if you see any with <PRE> that you are not currently using, select and remove those from the list.

Thanks,

Walter
