Earlier this month, I made a true X-country; far eastern NY to Columbia, CA. During this great adventure, I managed to note a few items found on my 720; v. 7.6.7 newly purchased (upgrade from old 700):

1. Clock does not correct for time zones. Have to exit application, set new time zone, return.
2. The time zone setting drop-down window is so small that it took many tries before I got lucky and clicked the correct one.
3. Sectional charts continually returns after manual switch. For debugging purposes, at Battle Mountain, switch to SF. Another click took me to Klamath Falls; after a few seconds it changed back to SLC. This continued until my icon was completely off the previous chart.
4. The new red/white airplane icon is excellent; was able to spot me at a quick glance - thank you.

This is meant to help refine the software, not to disparage it. I am extremely happy with the 720 (as I was for years with the 700) and thank all of you for a really, REALLY excellent product. Love the WiFi hands-off updating.

Robert,

I noticed several of the same things recently on a long XC I took (VA to Nova Scotia). Personally, I agree that the drop down window for setting the time zone changes is WAY too small. However, I'd like to see a user selectable option for the time to change automatically when crossing time zones, or to stay as set.

The map change function seemed a bit "clunky" to me. It always waited until I flew off one map and *needed* a new map. Personally, I'd like to see this be seamless so the user never knows they're changing maps. Its always nice to see what's coming up and in this case, other than what you can recall from flight planning, every map change is literally a last second surprise. This feature has room for improvement.

I too concur that the 720 is pretty darn remarkable for price.

Don

I would also like to see a seamless map transition. I think the main reason this isn't implemented is so that we can view the margin information. Foreflight gets around this by parsing the margins into a separate window you can call up and scroll through as needed, and works pretty well. I'm not sure how much this changes the map database, or how much processing labor would be required for each update -- I like the cost/benefit ratio for the updates now, and I don't know if it would be worth it to make the chart data more complex to prepare..

Guys, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. We are constantly striving to make the iFly better and this sort of productive dialog is very helpful. These requests are on the wishlist for consideration in a future release.

Thanks!
Walter
