Dynon D1  Modified By Dinshaw on 4/11/2013 12:33:29 AM

I have the portable pocket Dynon D1 EFIS/AHRS system for emergency / standby use

is there a way to hook it up to my ifly 720 so that we can use the AHRS system from the Dynon? This would allow us to use the full 6 pack gauges including a useable artificial horizon.

I dont want to cough up another $800 for a new Levil system to use its AHRS

any ideas or future plans on making something like this work?

thanks

Din

I have a D10A and a D1 as a back-up. It would be worth a post on the Dynon forums which are very actively supported by Dyonon staff. I'm sure they will give a more definative answer, but I don't believe the D1 'outputs' any data so I doubt it :-( Isn't it pretty much your self contained backup AHRS and display combination already anyway?

I asked them this question at Oshkosh last year. The vendor asked why would you want to do that. When I mentioned interfacing with a moving map, he wrinkled up his nose and said "no way".....

Yep, I spoke with the Dynon guys on the way into the show this morning and they confirmed that the D1 is closed off and does not support sending that AHRS data out. If they would expose that data through a serial connection we could use it, but unfortunately they don't. Sorry, wish we could support this. Thanks.

Walter -

Does the iFly 720 support communications with any other Dynon products, such as the EFIS-D100?
