Thanks for the response. OK with the weather only in the air. I'd rather track down issues on the ground with my new system. I'm still wondering about traffic alerts and if I did that correctly. The airplanes that were taking off from DCA were as close as 500 feet so I thought I would get a traffic alert.

Thanks,

S. Morgan

I have the original Skyradar and it is VERY important to have it fully up and running BEFORE firing up the iFly. Every time I tried and let them start together (ie - lighter jack powered), it NEVER worked regardless of what altitude I climbed to.

A simple shut down and restart of the iFly solved the problem. Now I use the external battery inline so its always charging and is ready should there be a problem with the ships power. It has an on/off switch so I start the plane, wait a min, flip the switch, and all has worked perfectly ever since (weather that is......traffic is a different story).

Was it a wifi connection issue or something else? I may have to try waiting to turn on the ifly. Typically the ifly is already on with it's portable battery, then the skyradar fires up afterwards on the plane's power. I typically have to fiddle with the ifly wifi by deleting the skyradar and adding it again and it'll work.

I have the original SkyRadar and a 700 also. I usually turn on the 700 first (external power via switch on battery) to allow time for the unit to 'boot' then go about starting the plane etc. So in my case the SkyRadar only ever gets power sometime after the iFly is up and running. The exact opposite of Dave but yet seems to work. Who knows. Maybe they just can't come on at the same instant i.e. one has to be up and running to be detected by the other or something?

Nope, not a Wifi issue.....it would always show as connected but never receive data. I even tried several times to delete the connection and re-connect - still no data. Only way it works consistantly with my unit is to boot up the iFly after Skyradar.
