Really appreciate your quick overview.

I know the market is changing and you're not the vendor or seller of the various ADS-B boxes you listed, but it would be really helpful if you'd put even approximate prices next to each unit you listed.

For some of us that might quickly eliminate some of the choices and save some agonizing over which abilities we want and save lots of surfing time. ;-)

Are you, or anyone, able and willing to repost your list with those dollar figures in there?

Thanks for your time, help, and consideration.

Alex

I'm still trying to see if my Skyradar-L system works with my iFly-700. Any recommendations? I have another post on the owner forum.

I took my systems to a park on the departure end of DCA Reagan National Aiport and did not see either weather or traffic on my iFly 700. I do see the power light on the Skyradar-L system go on after it initializes and the GPS light go on after a while (I am assuming it has enough line-of-sight to enough satellites to provide a location), and I see the ADSB light go on only when an airplane flew by me at about 500 feet. Since I don't have an iPad, I can only use the iFly 700 to check it out. HELP!

You probably won't see anything on the ground unless you locate the ground transmitter responsible for rebroadcasting. The skyradar l is a low altitude in device. Most of the traffic today if its broadcasting is broadcasting on the high altitude so you won't see it and probably never see it till you receive a rebroadcast from the ground station. The ground stations are set up to transmit upward and typically you won't get the signal till you are about 1000-3000 ft. I have the skyradar d and live under the approach of kdfw and kdal. I see the air2air on the high altitude planes as they fly overhead. But unless I drive over to the ground transmitter or get in the air I do not see any other data like weather.

S.

I just purchasex the D model from Skyradar.......I think the L model is the single channle receiver but it should work on your 700 but from what i have been reading you have to be off the ground. I should get mine around the 9th. I also have a 700.....would be nice to have the 720 for the wifi connection but am not going to pay the diff for it. .............Greg......217-497-7166

Just last week I purchased the SkyRadar L and a new iFly 720, and I also have an iFly 700 (now surplus). The SkyRadar worked fine with the 700; but I wanted a wireless connection instead of USB so I bought the 720. I had also connected a borrowed SkyRadar S to the 700 and they worked fine together. When it came to purchasing an ADS-B receiver, price was the main factor and SkyRadar had a 20% off/free shipping deal.

On the SkyRadar, I have a small 12v battery just for it, & I power it up during preflight and power it down on arrival. As for the lights: my power light also blinks slowly. The GPS light stays solid when locked onto the sats, and I've only seen the ADS-B light blink "on" a few times. When flying through Mississippi where there's no ADS-B coverage, the iFly alerts me if it has not received data from the SkyRadar in more than 66 seconds. Also, by looking in the "About"/"Connected devices" page of the iFly, you can see how many TAF's, Winds Aloft, RADAR, etc. reports the iFly has received from the SkyRadar. It's quite a large number!

I'm very happy with the SkyRadar and the iFly combination. It definitely makes me a better (informed) pilot.
