I understand. Reading Walter's post prior to version 5, I realize he didn't mean seamless, but switching maps so "you shouldn't find yourself flying on legend data anymore". This is the feature I was looking for.

Seamless would be nice, as long as I could read a legend. I've only used the legend a couple of times.

"...they were not fond of clipping the legends..."

Perhaps at or before the next meeting, you could suggest to the FAA that they figure out a way to embed the legend information in the image. Since an electronic chart implies it will be used on some sort of electronic/computerized device, it would seem they should be able to develop a system where we could click on whatever feature we want defined, and have the symbol defined.

Having to scroll to the far edges of an electronic sectional to view the legend seems archaic.

Mike,

I agree. However the FAA and their charts are not the most high tech. I think it also keeps the integrity of the charts, ie their seal and time stamp for quick reference. They are just not there yet. Most of the information is in the database. However the legend or key of icons are not.

You might try zooming out, centering the legend, then zooming in. Keep in mind most pilots are new to GPS and the charts are more comfortable. There needs to be a gradual shift. It it all went to pure digital, pilots might be in shock around the world... Stay tuned...

I noticed that SkyVector has a chart called a World VFR. As near as I can tell, it is a sectional that literally covers the entire world. There are also World Hi and Lo charts as well.

That's cool. Now if we could just load that into the iFly ...
