On a flight today the unit would not lock on to satellites. While inflight I pulled the unit out and away from the panel to see if it was being interfered with. This is my third flight and the first time it would not lock on. I tried to reset the GPS in-flight, but it didn't help, I turned around an landed, completely disgusted.

I'm flying a Van's RV7a with a glass tip up canopy, I've never had a problem with GPS reception on any device, multiple Garmin portables, iPad, iPhones.

The unit has version 7 software running on it since day one, I noticed while updating charts today there is a minor version update, could this be a fix? The unit is now locked on satellites on my desk at home, can I rely on this in my airplane?

I thought I'd share what looks like the solution to my no lock problem. For some reason the GPS module lost the almanac, Steve at AP directed my to use the GPS diagnostic menu and use the factory reset option. After letting the unit acquire the new GPS almanac for an hour the GPS locks on to the satellites quickly after start up. I've been using the unit in my car and it's working great. Thanks to Steve at AP for great customer support.
