There are several electronic supplys that may have this type of plug, but the shipping from those online place drive the price to the point of being able to buy our plug and snip it off. You may have a local supply to check. The size specs for the plug are 1.3mm ID x 3.5mm OD. Be sure to put an inline fuse in place.

I've actually made a quick connect so I can connect to ship power, then use the same tip to connect to AD/DC adapters. It was an experiment with a light duty male/female connection. I've gone back to using the DC straight into the 12V recepticle.

Good info here, however when I plug my cigarette lighter power cord into the 700, I get no results. I checked the voltage at the plug with a multimeter, and have ship's power at the plug. But for some reason the plug isn't connecting with the 700. So far I'm using the remote battery with no problems.

Am I missing something here?

Dave: I have very successfully used my iFly 720 with the cigarette lighter socket in several aircraft and automobiles, however it does not work in one particular C-172H lighter socket, which checks out good with power using a multimeter. Haven't resolved that one yet, but it must have something to do with that particular socket in that airplane since it works fine in all other sockets. I am only an occasional safety pilot in that C-172H, but if I flew in that airplane primarily I would be replacing that socket - just a thought. ===Ralph

PA-22, I understand, checking voltage at the cigg socket is the first thing to do.

In my case, the cigg socket is just fine, fused voltage available.

It is the plug which goes into the 700 that is not delivering.

It tests showing voltage, but just doesn't make the contact with the 700.

???

Dave: Does the 700's cig adaptor work when you plug it into your car/van/truck's 12-v "lighter" power socket? If it works in the car/van/truck sockets then the 700 plug is OK.
I would then suspect that the 700's plug is just not making proper contact inside the socket in the airplane. It may be an older design socket with slightly deeper well and the reach of the plug's tip may not be making contact with the center (hot) lead in the socket.
If you are comfortable with electricity you could try testing it with a short piece of wire between the center tip of the plug and the center lead inside the socket, while maintaing the ground between the plug and sides of the socket. If that does not work, it indicates the plug on the 700's plug or wire is bad. If this short patch works, then it is a matter of the plug not making contact inside the socket. Best advice I can give long distance. ===Ralph
