I have flown the SkyRadar four times now since I have all the software up to date. If I update the weather via the website within 24 hours, I get winds aloft, if not my iFly reports none found (anywhere in the SE.) At the same time the status screen (today) was showing 68 fresh winds reports received. I'm now suspecting that any winds aloft reports that I've seen in the past were not live from the SkyRadar connection? Are there any addition updates that I need to install?

Radar, Metars, and TAF's are working like a champ, with plenty of fresh reports anywhere in the SE.

I'm uncertain about Pirep's, as the status page is showing numerous hits, but again I couldn't see any today.

One other observation; I'm connecting the SkyRadar and the serial port adapter (autopilot coupler) to the iFly through a USB hub. If both are connected when I turn on the system, the iFly sees only the autopilot coupler on "COM 5" but if I bring it up with only the SkyRadar connected through the hub it sees it just fine (on serial port "0".) After that connection is established, if I connect the serial port coupler to the hub, it sees it also (on "COM 5") and everything is fine. Prior to the installation of SkyRadar, I was having no problem connecting through the hub to both the USB drive (for my in-flight tunes) and the serial port adapter on boot-up. (The USB thumb drive is not in the picture right now)

Thanks for any experience / insight,

Dave

We're looking into the missing Winds Aloft problem; it's a sporadic issue, but we'll find and fix this. A patch release is a few weeks away.

Drivers on WindowsCE are not as interchangable and forgiving as full blown Windows. So it wouldn't suprise me if you had trouble using a thumb drive, auto-pilot, and ADSB device. I've tested numerous serial cable and ADSB and HUB setups without very many problems, but the thumb drive can throw a wrench into the logic.

If tunes are important you might consider purchasing a 8GB SD card, copying over all your data from your 4GB, then you will have lots of space for your tunes. (Or upgrade to the iFly Streets version for $60, this includes a new 8GB SD card, but you'll still have a couple gig free on the card)

Walter, as far as the gb size limits for the iFly hardware, what is the max size SD card that is compatible? I too, was thinking about doing this to incorporate music and other files on the iFly, but didn't know if I could use a 16gb card or larger/smaller. Also, any particular brands to stick to and/or to avoid (I'm sure you found problems with some during testing)? I'll look forward to doing this soon, especially if I ever decide to jump for the Streets app. Thanks!

I've not tried a card over 8gb, but I don't anticipate a problem with a 16gb SD card. I always recomend SanDisk cards. We've seen lots of problems with the low cost cards.
