Tried to call today but you were tied up.
I "think" I have it figured out. I think the compass rose that surrounds my aircraft icon replesents the distance when I have dynamic distance rings set. The distance tags are always at the edge of the compass rose and they seem to represent the distance from my aircraft. At least that's what it looked like while I was sitting in my driveway playing with the settings.
If I'm off base here, let me know what you think.
