I'm not sure if I'm using the VST function properly or if it could be improved.

Example: I've got a flight plan from IYK (airport) to MHV (airport) to PMD (navaid) to L26 (airport). I've got it set to display the VST when rate of descent is 350 fpm or more to reach the pattern altitude 2 nmi from the airport. The issue is that it wants me to descent to pattern altitude for each airport in the flight plan. This doesn't seem right to me, I want MHV as a waypoint, not a destination.

I would think that it would only assume I want to land at my ultimate destination unless I specified an altitude for an enroute waypoint. That brings up another point, it doesn't look like I can assign an altitude to an airport enroute.

Am I missing something?

Jayson

Jayson: The root issue is the iFly assumes any airport in your plan is a landing destination. This design has been questioned, and we will likely change this behavior in a future release. In the meantime you could convert those airport waypoints to lat/lon waypoints, simply drag the waypoint a little, then return it to it's original spot - you should be prompted, just pick the "lat/lon" option instead of the airport.

Thanks!
Walter

Thanks for the reply Walter. I'll use the workaround and hopefully you'll be able to next release. I think that descending/landing at an enroute airport would be an exception rather than the rule. Allowing you to set target altitudes for airports and defaulting only the final destination to the pattern seems to me like it would work for everybody.

It's so nice being able to post these ideas and getting responses directly from the developers, keep up the good work.
