If I fly at night and forget to turn the screen back to day mode before shutting down, and then try to use the IFly the next time in the daylight, it's almost impossible to see the screen to find and hit the daylight mode button. Would it make sense to have it always start up in daylight mode?

BTW, I've had my IFly for a little less than 6 months and LOVE it! I fly a Mooney and have the IFly attached to the copilot yoke. I have had no problems whatsoever seeing the screen (except when I forget to change it back to daylight mode!). If ATC gives you a routing change while IFR, it is SO much easier to change the routing on the IFly, get yourself headed in the right direction, and THEN worry about getting your IFR-certified Garmin (or whatever you're using) reprogrammed. And I no longer have to worry about showing up at the local FBO and find out they're out of the chart I need for that day's flight. I wish I could figure out where to mount the battery ; then between the IFly, my VirtualHUD Wingman attitude indicator, and my handheld radio, I'd have a complete IFR backup suite!

Adding my experience with that...

I don't fly at night that often. The first flight after a night flight I forgot about the new night feature. I tried to just increase the brightness using the remote control (because that used to work). I was starting to think the unit was broken because I still couldn't see it worth a darn. It would have been a serious distraction had I not just completely ignored it.
