Hook,

Thanks. I did try that and have two findings:

1. It did not cut the glare down nearly as much as the ad suggested.

2. The thickness of the film precluded me from tapping on moving adsb targets and getting any more information from them, as I could before.

So, when I went out and had to get a new tablet, I tried to find one with the glare-reduction built-in. I am now using the Samsung Tab A and it is better, but not really what I desire.

Will keep looking for solutions...

Dark shirts and a "hood" around the screen are probably about the best you can do.  There's no magic bullet.

As do I...most of the time.  One of the 740's selling points is its very bright screen that is still readable, even in bright lighting conditions that wash out other screens.

But espeically in aircraft with lots of windows--think an RV bubble canopy, for instance--direct sun on the screen or on light-colored objects that can be seen in reflections off the screen can still cause visibility issues.

With my cabin geometry, this rarely occurs.  Occasionally, on mid-morning or late-afternoon flights with the sun shining in over my left shoulder and falling right on the screen, I can have some issues, but then it's easy to hold my hand to shade the screen, and the condition only lasts for a short time (until the sun gets high or low enough to no longer be a problem, or I change course).

For other people with a lot more window area, it can be a bigger deal.

I have the iFly 720 that I use in both my Grumman AA-1B (bubble canopy with a tinted shade in the top) and Cessna 182.  The 720 was a huge improvement in readability over the original 700 in direct sunlight.  While in a direct sunlight situation the screen is still a bit hard to see, I find it still somewhat readable conpared to the completely blanked out 700 (as well as an iPad).  I have not tried the 740 yet but am starting to think about upgrading to it for the Yankee.  In this plane the brighter the better.
