I bought the IFly700 USB to serial cable for a single purpose. To hook up the GPS to my TruTrak autopilot. In order to use the cable I would have had to buy a female 9 pin plug or cut the attached 9 pin male plug that came with the cable. As space is at a premium in my S-18, I choose to cut off the 9 pin plug and use the one wire I needed. The #3 wire for NMEA data. Is it possible to get a cable that has the converter in the USB plug and just have bare wires on the other end ? I believe I have seen such a USB/converter/bare wire plug. This way you can shorten the wire to fit your panel. With the current plug from the IFly store this is not possible.

I did get the USB converter plug (modified) from IFly to work with my TruTrak AP, but a shorter bare wire cable would be nice.

Looks like this might be what you want: http://www.usconverters.com/index.php...

The iFly would have to have the FTDI drivers installed to use this. Not sure if they have done that yet.

The cable we provide has Prolific USB->Serial chipset. FTDI drivers are on the ifly as well, but it seems not every FTDI cable is the same; some work, some don't.

Thanks!
