Cannot view images

I'm having trouble viewing any kind of image file. They just don't seem to show. I even have to reboot to get out of the image viewer. I have followed the instructions closely and tried a couple of thumb drives with images but no luck. Any guidance?

Well I checked and I definitely cannot open even a very small JPEG. When I go into select an image, I see nothing on the list and I can't even get off the page without rebooting. There seems to be a glitch in there somewhere. Any suggestions? Do you think when I load version 6 it will take care of the problem. I have the most recent update loaded.
