After paying more attention to this during some recent flights, I'm seeing the same behavior reported by citabriabob and thammer above: The initial moving map zoom level after takeoff is NOT the same as it was set during my last flight. Instead, it's zoomed way in.

I have the same behavior on my 720.

AP is aware of the issue and has made some changes to the latest beta to improve the behavior, though I have not yet flown with the new version to see the results.
