I recently purchased the Streets option for my iFly (via the web on 14 Aug). I received it in the mail today (fast service!) which pleased me to no end since I am leaving on Friday for a trip.

The bad news is that it doesn't work. I changed to the new 8GB SD and turned on the iFly700. It starts up normally and then pops up a window asking me if I want Aviation or Street. If I choose street it starts up a program which asks what language I want (it defaults to English (US). I can choose different languages if I want to (but I do want the default) and press Done. It then goes back to the main screen and continues starting the Streets program, gets about halfway on the little progress line and then goes back to the main iFly700 menu (navigation, multimedia, etc).

If I try to choose Navigation it does all of the above again plus it tells me that the program failed to start the last time and do I want to reset to factory settings. Regardless of which option I choose it still does all the above with the same unsatisfying results.

The Aviation portion does work as before, although all my customization is gone which is rather annoying. Mainly it is annoying because to run the setup portion of the menu, every time you change something it goes back to the main aviation screen and then you have to drill down to the appropriate screen again. It would be nice if it just went to the next higher menu rather than all the way back to the main aviation screen.

As noted above, I had hoped to use the iFly700 on my vacation, but now it that looks to be not going to happen.

Is it possible to download a fresh copy to see if it may be just a corrupt copy on the SD card? Or is it possible to troubleshoot it? Or do I have to send it all back?

Thanks, Dick Tasker

The problem is fixed!

The issue was that I had one of the early iFly700s and it needed a firmware update. I called in this morning and they were very helpful and offered a download of the firmware upgrade. But had I been a tiny bit more patient, they had already solved my problem by sending me a firmware update SD card the day after they sent the Streets SD card when they realized that my iFly700 would need the firmware updated!!

I checked the morning mail and there it was! I popped it into the unit, updated the firmware and now everything works as advertised.

You cannot beat that kind of service - solving the problem before I even knew I had it!

One more reason I love the product and the people that work there!

Thanks guys!

Just installed my Streets and tried it on the way home. Magnificent! As easy to use as the iFly navigation, good graphics, as it even shows the bends in the road. I live in a rural community, so there are a lot of old farm roads that twist around... Even had all the street names within the private development; these were never even on recent maps not even Google.

Great stuff! Thank you again,

Dick, your personalized information can be found on your old SD card in the User folder. Copy that data over to your new SD card and you should be good to go.
