I upgraded software to v10.?? on both my Samsung (Android) devices - a Tab-3 8" tablet and a S5 telephone.   Recently flying from 33N to 58M I put the tablet into Low IFR mode just for practice and brought up the RNAV GPS -B procedure.  The tablet promptly froze.

When I got home I rebooted the tablet and repeated the actions.  It froze again and I had to reboot the tablet once more.   Then I tried it on my telephone with exactly the same results, except that the telephone displayed the message "Unfortunately iFly has stopped" but continued to operate its other functions.

I could not get either device to work iFly, so on the tablet I uninstalled iFly then reinstalled it again (I maintained the telephone as it was so that I have a non-operating software installation for comparison).  I had to download all the data for 4 states once more.  This time it seems to work ok.   My telephone is still not working although it has more than 1.5Gb memory still available.

I think you have a bug somewhere.   I dont know why the tablet now works, but I lose confidence when the software freezes both devices with the new release, although it worked perfectly well on the previous release.

Gordon,

I think updating your data to the latest version is the fix.  There appears to be an incompatibility with the current v10 and the last cycle (now expired) FAA data.

Sorry for the trouble, and I understand your frustration and hit to your confidence.  We'll try to do better next time.

OK thanks.   On my 740 when I last did an Update did it bring in the latest FAA (compatible) data along with the new software version 10.??

Or do I need to erase all the FAA data from the 740 and reload it?  I have got the whole country on that device and it will take a complete day to upload.

The 740 update automatically prompts you for data and software updates at the same time, so presuming you didn't de-select a bunch of stuff you should be fine there.

The Apps are different - the software is updated (usually automatically) through Apple or Google.  The data is updated through the iFly software itself (Menu -> Check For Updates).  So it's pretty easy to get out of sync.  Typically this is not a problem, but we must have a bug.  Reports have be trickling in, so you aren't the only one with this issue - and it doesn't appear widespread.  Nevertheless this is our top priority right now.
