The unit does not recognize the update file downloaded with my Mac.

Don, the Safari browser on a mac will automatically unzip the update package. It's important that the file *not* be unzipped. There is a thread with instructions on disabling that behavior in our forum here: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/SUPPOR...

im having the same problem and i cant open the link for the directions to stop my computer from unzipping the package

Link works fine for me. Here's a copy-and-paste of the instructions from the linked thread (another user also suggested that Firefox worked well):

for safari users, this is how to turn off the "auto unzip function"
go to...
Safari
Preferences
General tab
uncheck Open "safe" files after download...
...

Or just right click on the download file and select "Download linked file" and Safari will save it as a zip file.
