"The larger size should simply mean that it's closer to your altitude. It's not Red, because it's not yet a danger. But since it's close to your altitude, it's larger to ensure you see it. Yellow/Red colors are reserved for danger. So it goes - small, larger, then Yellow then Red."

That's similar to what I'm seeing, except the last target I touch (no matter the distance) and get a QV traffic box on remains large and sometimes yellow even thought it may be 30,000 ft above me?

Using the Stratux on my porch and Android iFly, I see 4 airliners on the screen, all above 30,000 ft and the closest one is 30nm away. As I tap each one, the bigger icon is always the last one I tapped.

I haven't flown with mine yet. How does it do picking up weather? That's really the value of ADS-B in without ADS-B out.

Antenna quality and placement are the determining factors. I've flown from Alabama to New Mexico and back with a Stratux and a SkyRadar DX (Stratux talking to an Android, SkyRadar talking to a 740). They both performed as expected. There was lots of weather in Arkansas and Oklahoma, and both screens showed about the same thing. Occasionally both displays will show the radar as if it's been run through a shredder - imagine a radar image that a cat used to sharpen its claws. But it happens on both displays at different times and I assume it's a poor signal or interference as the image is being received (again, antenna placement). This past weekend I spend several IMC hours in Hurricane Patricia's nasty rain, and both units again performed equally well. The Stratux is prone to an occasional lockup, which could easily be due to jarring of the power connection during flight. I can let it run all night on the porch and it will stay connected to the tablet the whole time. For such a young beta product, Stratux is remarkably stable. I've added the GPS/AHRS chip and can't wait to see the AHRS work in iFly.

You really need to play around with SSHing into the Pi. If you and your buddy want to fly together and play with both Stratux's in flight, you'll want to change the SSID of one or both so you'll know which is which. You'll also want to put each one on a different wifi freq so they're not competing for attention. Both settings can be easily changed by SSH'ing into the Pi and editing the text file "/etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf". The Pi already has an editor that's a little on the 1980's look and feel side called "nano", The default userID of the Pi is... "pi". The default password is... you guessed it! "raspberry".

Apologies to ErgoMike for the topic drift! We should move the Stratux discussion back to the other forum so others can chime in.

No problem drifting off topic. I just saw that someone else complained about the color coding scheme for traffic in another part of the forum. (The General Discussions section.) Shane explained there that there's a standard for color coding. So there will be some inertia to change away from this. Perhaps a User settable option for "standard traffic presentation" and "Ergomike's presentation"? <grinning>
