I've noticed that a zoom like "Composite: US [width 352 nm]" (for long flight planning purposes) is fuzzy on my Nook HD+. Whereas, with brand G, it's fairly sharp at that zoom. (I can post a cropped comparison if requested.)

Ironically, it looks sharper at 705nm zoom.

Of course, if I go to the next zoom in after 352, that's the Sectional, which is nice and sharp.

I suppose I should try this next instead of asking here, but will downloading WAC's improve this situation? I prefer the detail and currency of Sectionals, which is why I don't use WACs.

Correct, if you don't have WAC charts installed things will look different. The system will automatically choose a chart to display based on your zoom level: TAC, Sectional, WAC, or Composite. Each of these charts are optimized for display at certain zooms. So if you do not install WAC you will be missing the sharp sweet-spot that layer offers at certain zoom levels.
