Lately I've been having issues updating using iFly Connect getting the error message "Unable to access iFly servers. Please confirm you are properly attached to the Internet, or try again later."

Our servers are up and running well. But we did have a big change over the weekend, in the middle of the night on Saturday we moved to a new hosting environment. For most, this should have resulted in a couple of hours of downtime. I suspect your ISP or your Computer is still trying to access our old location. This can be tested:

On your computer, click the Windows (Start) button and type "Command", hit enter. In the command prompt type "ping www.iflygps.com". It should say "Pinging www.iflygps.com [173.236.5.27]..." If you get a different number, then your DNS is old. You can force your computer to reset it's internal DNS by typing "ipconfig /flushdns" in the command prompt. Also try a reboot.

Please let us know if these suggestions help or not.

Thanks!
Walter

Funny. I tried flushdns before thinking I was fighting a virus for a month or so. Turns out I had a bad dsl modem. Yes, I tried it again tonight.

Still can't update getting the same error as above. Tried pinging www.iflygps.com and get 'Unable to resolve target system name'. Trying again now says' Ping request could not find host www.iflygps.com. Please check the name and try again.'

I tried pinging 173.236.5.27 and it gets a ping reply. Pinging www.ifly.adventurepilot.com works also.

This problem has been going on for a short time, even before you upgraded your servers but seemed it was intemittant until a week or two.

Well, when it rains it pours. Now we are experiencing issues, unrelated to the server move, with DNS. Our DNS provider, 1and1, is experiencing a massive DDOS attack. Seems they took on a troublesome client. Here is an article:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/n...

We are moving DNS to another provider. Still, they must be up to make the change and propigate the new DNS server information. So I suspect we will continue to have issues with DNS and email throughout the day.

Sorry for the trouble,
Walter
