I just aquired an older Skyradar D that is ad hoc / static IP only. It will only stay connected and sending data for a few minutes,

My 720 is using version 8.2.50 (which is awesome, thanks!).

When I go to the wifi config screen after it disconnects, there will be two skyradar0001 networks, One will indicate (pre), and appear connected, but with no signal bars. The other will not be connected, but will have signal bars. I've found that if I go through the following steps, it wil reconnect:

Go to iFly menue>about>connected devices and select "none"

Exit the application, leaving navigation running in the background

Go to wifi setup, disconnect the (pre) skyradar0001, and connect to the other one

Enter navigation, menue>about>connected devices, and reselect Skyradar

It will stay connected for a few minutes, then drop again. The connected devices list will still show it as attached, but no data. I've disconnected all other (pre) connections, leaving only the skyradar. It's as if the connection gets inturupted, but rather than reconnect, it re-scans for available networks, and adds a duplicate SSID. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried deleting both of the SkyRadar entries, then re-scanning for devices, so that you start from a completely blank slate?

I had an original SkyRadar that used an ad hoc wifi connection, and it worked fine with my 720 for over a year. I have since upgraded to a SkyGuardTWX, but the SkyRadar was still working fine when I made the switch.

You can't actually delete the entries. You can only disconnect the connections. I think I may have isolated the problem. Using WIFI Analizer App on my phone, I found that there was a couple other wifi access points near by on the same channel. Also, the signal out of the Skyradar is not very high powered, and aparently, it was getting stomped on. I'm not sure why the 720 would see it as a new connection when it faded and came back, rather than simply reestablishing the existing one, but as long as the connection stays strong, it seems ok. My plane is in for it's anual, so I'll flight test it next week, but I took it along on a road trip yesterday, and it stayed connected without a glitch.

I've now flown with this a coule of times, and it seems that there is a problem with both the Skyradar and the 720. The wifi signal fron the Skyradar is very weak Looking at the settings in flight, I actually saw access points on the ground from 1000agl that had stronger signals than the Skyradar in the back seat. I'm sending the unit back, and they're going to replace the guts with the latest version for $120. Not a bad deal.

As for the 720, every time the signal drops and comes back, it shows as a newly discovered connection. The Connected Devices list will still show the Skyradar, but listed as "Idle". I have to exit navigation, and enter the wifi settings, where there will be two entries for Skyradar0001. One shows "(Pre)", but has no signal. I have to select that entry, and disconnect it. It goes away, leaving the other Skyradar0001 entry that shows a signal. I conect to it, and everything starts working again.

I expect that once my Skyradar is updated, this will no longer be an issue for me, but it might be worth looking in to at some point. You shouldn't have to jump through hoops to reconnect.

Scott,

If you continue to have trouble, you may want to check to see if the OS on your iFly needs to be updated. From the System Menu touch Setup, then touch the ! icon, look for the "OS" version: If your iFly's Serial starts with FL11, the latest os is "1.0.2.3", FL12 & FL13 is "1.0.1.16". If you don't have the latest, this page has the instructions on how to update:
