I'm not talking about the transition strip when you fly across the border of a sectional chart into next sectional.

Occasionally while flying in the middle of my local sectional about the bottom inch or inch and a half of the screen turns blank (white). IIRR I can usually recover the view of the "missing" terrain by zooming out.
And I believe (but don't trust my memory on this, and can't replicate the experiment until iFly glitches again) when I zoom back IN the bottom piece of terrain goes missing again.
Not likely to be critical (unless a nasty tall obstacle had just come on screen) but annoying.

Wonder if it could mean --
#defective/flaky spot on SDcard where sectional is stored and read from?
# My iFly is starting to manifest a intermittent hardware failure?
# Or?

Alex,

This sounds more like a bug than hardware issue. How often does this happen? Next time it happens can you take a picture of the unit? And does it happen at the same location, or have you seen this on lots of different maps?

Thanks,
Walter

Hi Walter,

Thanks for quick response.

I've only been flying in the Klamath Falls sectional for a long time and don't expect to go out of it soon, so can't say if it happens on others.
It seems to , IIRR, happen at one location, and at one zoom level.
Problem with an intermittent glitch is can't set it up and reproduce it and thereby definitively answer such questions.

Just got off the phone with Ed at your company.
We suspect it could be a glitched copy of the sectional.
Ed said he'd seen some other issues of glitched sectionals.

He suggested I delete the suspect sectional from the iFly card, download/update it.

Will try that and try to remember to report back.
May have to wait long enough to develop confidence that it won't happen again as I don't have a specific protocol I know would reinvoke the misbehavior.

Here`s a peculiar -- and perhaps informative(?) -- additional item of information:

I now have seen the same(?) glitch on my iPad iFly as I reported from my 720.
Very surprising.
I am attaching a screen shot showing the iPad iFly on the same sectional manifesting the white out lower section.
This is as far as I can tell exactly what I saw on the 720 display.
(As far as I can tell this seems to occur mostly.... maybe ONLY... when on highest level of zoom in.)

This seems to me to rule out some of the avenues I was exploring with Ed regarding this being from a corrupt copy of the Klamath Falls sectional in the 720.... or anything unique to the 720 or my 720.

Any thoughts?

Alex
